How Do I Sync My Contacts?

2 min read

Want revealed callers to match the people you already know? Syncing your contacts lets Traceback compare revealed numbers against your saved contacts, so a familiar caller shows up as a familiar name.

Sync Your Contacts

Open the Traceback app and go to Settings.

Tap Sync Contacts.

Allow access to your contacts when prompted.

Your saved contacts are now matched against revealed numbers.

What Syncing Does

When Traceback reveals a No Caller ID or Unknown call, it checks the revealed number against your synced contacts. If it matches someone you've saved, you'll recognize the caller right away. If there's no match in your contacts, Traceback still shows the revealed number, plus a name from our database when one exists.

Privacy Note

Contact syncing is used to match revealed numbers to people you already know. Your contacts are used to help identify callers for you, not shared with other users.

Troubleshooting

Sync Contacts isn't doing anything? Check that you granted contacts permission. If you declined it before, enable it in your phone's app settings and try again.

A known contact still showed as just a number. Re-sync your contacts to pick up recent changes, and confirm the number is saved in your contacts in full.

I don't want to sync contacts. That's fine, Traceback still reveals numbers without it. You just won't get the contact-name match.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sync my contacts with Traceback?

Open the app, go to Settings, tap Sync Contacts, and allow access. Traceback then matches revealed numbers to your saved contacts.

Do I have to sync contacts to reveal calls?

No. Traceback reveals No Caller ID and Unknown numbers either way. Syncing just adds name matching from your own contacts.

Why isn't a saved contact showing up by name?

Re-sync your contacts and make sure the full number is saved. Sync needs to run again after you add new contacts.

Are my contacts shared with anyone?

No. Your contacts are used to match callers for you, not shared with other users.
